The earliest public sign came in early May, when the long dormant Migos Instagram account came back to life after two years of silence. Its first post was a carousel of studio photos showing Quavo and Offset back in session together, captioned with a row of construction emojis suggesting new work was underway. Around the same time, Quavo posted a message referencing a posthumous Takeoff album, a second Unc N Phew project and a final Migos record, describing the group’s bond as unbroken despite everything that happened. Offset responded within hours, posting a throwback photo of all three members with a short caption backing the plan.
What pushed Quavo and Offset apart in the first place
The group had been largely inactive and reportedly estranged in the years following Takeoff’s death. Quavo and Takeoff had continued performing as a duo under the name Unc N Phew before Takeoff was shot and killed in Houston at age 28, and Offset went on to focus on his own solo career. The two surviving members’s most visible public reconciliation moment came at the 2023 BET Awards, where they performed a tribute set eight months after Takeoff’s death, though Offset has said in interviews since that the two stayed in regular contact behind the scenes.

What will happen to Takeoff’s legacy in this project
That remains unclear. Neither Quavo nor Offset has confirmed whether the upcoming album will include posthumous vocals from Takeoff, though Quavo’s own social media posts explicitly referenced the possibility of a standalone Takeoff album alongside the group project. The timing adds weight to the announcement, since Patrick Clark, the man accused of shooting Takeoff, is scheduled to stand trial on November 5, 2026.
What comes before the final Migos album
Quavo is releasing his own solo album, QRÖMELIFE, on October 2, executive produced entirely by Pharrell Williams. No release date or title has been set for the Migos project, and both members are expected to wrap their individual commitments before turning to the group record.
How big was Migos at their peak
Migos helped carry Atlanta’s trap sound into the mainstream throughout the mid 2010s, built on hits that shaped a generation of hip hop.
