Tiger Woods shared a personal reflection this week on Trout National, the golf course his design firm, TGR Design, built in partnership with Los Angeles Angels star Mike Trout. Woods posted a course flyover on Instagram, describing the project as moving from vision to reality and expressing pride in what the two teams accomplished together. Woods was out of the country when the course officially opened on April 15, since he was in Zurich undergoing rehab at the time.
Trout, who grew up near the course’s location and remains close friends with Woods, responded to the announcement with his own message of appreciation, calling the collaboration an experience he could not have shared with a better partner.
What does the Trout National course include?
Trout National sits on more than 280 acres in Vineland, New Jersey, built on land that once served as a silica sand mine and surrounding farmland. The 18 hole, par 72 championship course stretches beyond 7,500 yards, designed to challenge even top level players. Beyond the main course, the property includes the Bullpen, a lit six hole reversible short course built for night play, and the Dugout, a baseball themed viewing area set behind the 14th and 16th tees so members can watch shots from field level. The grounds also include five cottages, two lodges for overnight stays, and a helipad.
Membership at the club remains tightly limited. Golf Digest reported in November that the club had capped membership at 227 people, with entry by invitation only and estimated initiation costs ranging from roughly $300,000 to $500,000. The total project cost is estimated near $100 million, developed after Trout and his partner identified a former quarry site and brought in Woods’ firm to design the course.

A day before Woods shared his Trout National reflection, TMRW Sports, the organization he leads alongside Rory McIlroy, announced that Fenway Sports Group had joined as the fifth ownership group in WTGL, a new women’s team golf league developed in partnership with the LPGA. FSG’s team will carry the Boston Common Golf name, mirroring its existing men’s TGL franchise led by McIlroy. The deal marks FSG’s first ownership stake in women’s professional golf, building on a sponsorship relationship with the LPGA dating back to 2023.
FSG joins four previously announced ownership groups for WTGL’s inaugural season later in 2026, including Arthur Blank’s group in Atlanta, Alexis Ohanian in Los Angeles, Steve Cohen in New York and the Hamp family’s Detroit franchise. Each of those ownership groups also holds a stake in an existing men’s TGL team, giving the new women’s league built in overlap with the established one.

Woods continues working toward a possible comeback, with his recent rehab in Switzerland described as a positive step in that direction. However, he still faces an ongoing legal matter connected to a DUI crash from earlier this year. Woods is also currently supporting his girlfriend, Vanessa Trump, as she goes through treatment for breast cancer. Given these circumstances, a full return to competitive play does not appear imminent, though a 2027 comeback has been mentioned as a possibility if things continue to move in a positive direction.
