Snoop Dogg is turning one of hip-hop’s most iconic phrases into a thriving business empire, and his hometown is about to feel it firsthand. The rapper and entrepreneur is set to open the second location of his cannabis dispensary brand S.W.E.D., short for Smoke Weed Every Day, in Long Beach on May 9. The new store sits at 2115 E. 10th Street and represents far more than a retail expansion. It is a homecoming rooted in culture, community and decades of history.
Long Beach shaped Snoop’s voice, his style and his worldview, and every corner of the new dispensary is designed to reflect that debt of gratitude. From the street-inspired visuals to the throwbacks celebrating his early career, the space is built to feel like a living tribute to the city that made him.
An experience built for more than cannabis buyers
S.W.E.D. is not a typical dispensary. The Long Beach location is being designed as a full sensory experience, the kind of place that draws in cannabis enthusiasts, die-hard fans and curious visitors in equal measure. The interior features retro arcade games, two live DJ booths, a personal lounge curated by Snoop himself and a state-of-the-art hologram of the man at the center of it all.
The design language throughout the store leans into early hip-hop energy, bold and unapologetic, with visual nods to Long Beach’s cultural identity woven into every detail. It is immersive in a way that few retail spaces ever attempt and fewer pull off.
The first S.W.E.D. location, which opened near LAX in Los Angeles in July 2024, gave fans a preview of what the concept could be. That store greeted visitors with the iconic wooden Death Row Records chair near the entrance, an instant photo moment and a signal that this brand takes its legacy seriously. The Long Beach location is expected to push that vision even further.
Community at the core of the brand
Beyond the aesthetics, Snoop has positioned S.W.E.D. as a vehicle for meaningful community investment. The brand is intended to support equitable growth within California’s cannabis industry by generating local jobs and creating opportunities in neighborhoods that have historically been underserved by the legal market.
That commitment to giving back has been a consistent thread throughout Snoop’s entrepreneurial career, and it is something his family has taken note of. His father, who was present at the grand opening of the first S.W.E.D. location, praised the store’s old-school atmosphere and its placement within the community, noting that Snoop has always found a way to keep moving forward while staying rooted in where he came from.
Snoop expands beyond cannabis
The Long Beach opening is just one piece of a broader entrepreneurial push. Snoop recently announced a partnership with rapper Lil Baby to expand Dr. Bombay Ice Cream, a brand he co-founded with his son Cordell Broadus. The collaboration is designed to blend 90s nostalgia with bold new flavors, including offerings like Iced Out Orange Cream, Sticky Caramel Apple and Baked Blueberry Muffin.
The Lil Baby partnership was described as a deliberate, long-term alignment rather than a celebrity cameo, with both parties committed to building something that resonates across generations of consumers.
Between cannabis retail, ice cream ventures and a cultural footprint that spans decades, Snoop Dogg shows no signs of slowing down. If anything, Long Beach is just the next chapter in a story that keeps getting bigger.
